Hamilton Island Race Week
The scope of this project is to capture bold, high-energy imagery that reflects the excitement, scale, and prestige of Hamilton Island Race Week. Through dynamic photography and aerial video, the focus is on yachts in full race mode, dramatic sailing conditions, iconic Whitsunday backdrops, and the vibrant social atmosphere ashore. The end result is a visually compelling story that blends performance, lifestyle, and location—showcasing the spirit of one of Australia’s most iconic sailing events.
Aerial coverage of racing yachts
From strategic locations around the island, we planned to capture imagery of yachts racing under full sail, highlighting speed, manoeuvres, sail shape, and fleet density against the Whitsundays backdrop.
On-water action and close-up sailing moments
On-board we captured many high-energy photos and video from the water showing crews trimming, steering, tacking, gybing, and pushing hard during races to convey intensity and competition.
Iconic locations and natural backdrop
While staying in the amazing location we captured the unique setting of Hamilton Island Race Week including island coastlines, anchorages, beaches, and turquoise waters to anchor the racing action in its world-class location.
Key race moments and progression
During the race we captured starts, mark roundings, sail changes, finishes, and post-race returns to tell the visual story of each race day unfolding.
Shore-side lifestyle and social atmosphere
With so many exciting activities taking place, we captured the vibrant off-water experience as well including dockside scenes, crew celebrations, spectators, events, and evening gatherings to reflect the full Race Week atmosphere beyond the racing itself.
